Free play time at Lyndhurst House Preparatory School T

he School day

The School is open from 8.20 a.m., and boys must be present for Registration by 8.30 a.m. for the main school, and by 8.45 a.m. in the Pre-Prep.

Home times are as follows:

Reception:

3.00 p.m.

Years 1 & 2:

3.30 p.m.

Years 3-8:

3.45 pm (except on Games Days, when it is 4.15 p.m.)

Parents can, by prior arrangement, collect from the playing fields on games days if they wish.

The day is divided into lessons in the normal way, with appropriate break-times for the various ages. The younger boys have their own break-times.

Proper cooked lunches are provided at the School for all boys, with the meals prepared in the School Kitchen by the School's catering staff, and served in the Hall. There is a non-meat option, and special dietary requirements for medical reasons can normally be catered for, but the School must be notified in advance.

Boys can join a variety of after-school clubs or sports activities, generally until 4.30 p.m. Guitar, Chess, Art, Science and Drama Clubs are offered in this way.

Younger boys whose day ends earlier can usually be supervised until a later collection, if this is convenient to parents - especially those with an older boy at the School.

Cricket in the playground at break at Lyndhurst House Prep School Assembly

There is a School Assembly every morning. Though brief, this is an important part of the school day, emphasising the community of the School as a whole. The Assembly provides a regular opportunity to give positive praise to boys for their many successes and efforts. It is also a useful time to illustrate examples of sound values and good conduct, as well as the warm good humour and courtesy that permeates the School. Pupils are frequently involved in part of the day's Assembly.

The School Year

The academic year runs from September to July and is divided into three terms: Autumn, Spring and Summer. There is a mid-term break of one week in each term. Details of term dates are available on this web site.
